Hi, glad to find this forum and web site.
I am a Colorado Native that has wandered around, with a career as a land surveyor and now live back east.
I had the opportunity to have spent a lot of time in the Chalk Creek and Mt. Princeton area in the summer of 1975 while working for the Bureau of Land Management's Cadastral Survey. We identified and remonumented a lot of the boundaries in the lower canyon and around the east side of Mt. Princeton. We were basically identifying and monumenting the boundaries between private lands and the U.S. Forest Service.
Anyway I have a lot of nice memories of that summer and have always maintained an interest in the area, and return there to visit on occasion.
I had the chance to meet and talk with Mrs. Love at the Love Ranch, as she was one of the contributers to getting the survey done. We also made use of old survey records on the railroad to find many of the old government corners, and I enjoyed following that old roadbed all the way from Bailey to above St. Elmo, as I would drive to and from the job on some weekends.
I have a few interesting pictures from that time, most interesting perhaps is a small collection of early pictures probably from the 1920's era. Anyway they show buggy tracks on the road instead of those of the automobile. I will have to scan them and put them up here some time.
Of course the area was much less developed in 1975 than it is today, but that seems to be the way it is everywhere in Colorado.
So just thought I would drop a not in here to say hi.
